We are definitely in thunder storm season. Two libraries have had electrical surges damage their Printer/Fax machines: one last week and a second last night.
If your library has a phone line connected directly to a fax machine or to an all in one printer (print, copy, scan & fax) we recommend you consider disconnecting the phone line from the printer during electrical storms. Taking this action may well prevent damage to the printer/fax and the need for costly replacement.
Use of a surge protector that has ports to isolate phone lines would add an additional level of protection from electrical spikes. Let us know if you would like us to evaluate your library’s phone/fax connections.
